Una de mis líneas de exploración ha sido reflexionar en torno al papel de la mujer: como madre, como abuela, como tía, como sobrina, como hija, como cualquier mujer habitante de una casa, como tantas otras mujeres cercanas y lejanas a mí. Me interesa cuestionar aquellos patrones que se perpetúan de generación en generación como únicas formas de existencia, y formalmente en mis obras busco abrir otras posibilidades de la vida social femenina pese a los roles de género. 

    Al leer esta frase del siglo XIX me aterra, me entristece y al mismo tiempo me llena de enojo pensar que algunas, sino es que muchas mujeres siguen viviendo así, y que esta observación de Margaret sigue estando vigente hasta nuestros días.

    Bajo esta línea, realicé un proyecto donde comencé un registro fotográfico de las casas en las que viví durante mi infancia para después intervenirlas digitalmente y llevarlas a la pintura. En esta serie buscaba comparar el trabajo de las amas de casa con un estado de aislamiento como lo es la cárcel o el manicomio. Me interesaba dar una sensación de encierro, para provocar así las posibilidades de una fuga. 

Hay que registrar todas esas vidas infinitamente oscuras, dije, (…) sintiendo en el pensamiento, la presión de la mudez, la acumulación de vidas ignoradas, ya de mujeres en las esquinas con los brazos en jarras, y los anillos incrustados en los dedos gordos, hinchados; (…) o de las vendedoras de violetas y de fósforos y viejas arrugadas paradas en las puertas de las calles; o de muchachas a la deriva, cuyos rostros, como olas bajo el sol o las nubes, anuncian la llegada de hombres y mujeres (…) Todo esto deberás expresar, (…) con la antorcha firme en la mano.[2

One of my lines of exploration has been to reflect on the role of women: as mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces, daughters, and any woman who inhabits a home, alongside countless other women who are close or distant from me. I am interested in questioning those patterns that perpetuate from generation to generation as the only forms of existence, and formally in my works, I seek to open up other possibilities for women's social life despite gender roles. 

    Upon reading this 19th-century sentence, I am terrified, saddened, and at the same time filled with anger, thinking that some, if not many, women continue to live like this, and that Margaret's observation remains relevant to this day.

    Under this line, I undertook a project where I started a photographic record of the houses I lived in during my childhood, and then digitally intervened and translated them into painting. In this series, I aimed to compare the work of housewives with a state of isolation, such as prison or a mental institution. I was interested in creating a sense of confinement to provoke the possibilities of an escape. 

There is a need to record all those infinitely dark lives, I said, (...) feeling in thought the pressure of silence, the accumulation of ignored lives, be it women on street corners with their arms crossed, and rings embedded in their swollen chubby fingers; (...) or the violet and match sellers and old wrinkled women standing at the street doors; or drifting girls, whose faces, like waves under the sun or clouds, announce the arrival of men and women (...) All of this you must express, (...) with the torch firmly in hand.[2
